Allegiant Travel Co. will acquire Sun Country Airlines in a $1.5 billion cash-and-stock deal that aims to expand flight options for Medford as it strengthens its network from Rogue Valley International (MFR) and beyond.

The merger will close in the second half of 2026 pending shareholder vote and regulatory approvals.

The Medford City Council approved a key step to create an Economic Improvement District in downtown Medford at the Downtown Medford Association’s request; owners in the area will pay a fee and public meetings will begin next month (letters mailed to affected owners).
