EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Rogue River School District announced three finalists for superintendent—Brad Capener, Dr. April Harrison, and Dr. David McQueen—and will host a public meet and greet on Wednesday, Feb. 4 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Rogue River Jr./Sr. High School.  KDRV
  • The Rogue River Junior Senior High School FFA chapter is preparing to host its annual beef feed on Feb. 7 to bolster local agriculture amid state budget shortfalls. The event invites community members to join a longstanding local tradition.  Rogue River Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fire hydrants in Medford are being repainted with reflective silver and color-coded bonnets to help firefighters quickly assess water flow during emergencies, according to the Medford Water Commission. The project will continue as part of routine maintenance over the next several years.  MedfordAlert
  • Starting Feb. 1, travelers without an acceptable Real ID must pay a $45 fee at TSA checkpoints in Medford, or complete the process on an electronic device at the airport. Officials recommend checking the TSA website for full details.  KOBI-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Southern Oregon Hoop Factory is set to open a new basketball training facility near Medford and Central Point in early February. The facility will offer comprehensive programs for youth and athletes, including a Jr.-Ballers Program and clinics led by former-college and professional coaches.  KDRV
