  • The ACCESS Severe Weather Shelter at 110 North Ivy Street is asking for donations of new, clean clothing and hygiene supplies (including sweatpants and coats) to help keep the unhoused warm during this season's severe weather.  KDRV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Michael James Beagle, 63, was found dead near the summit of Wagner Butte Trail Sunday afternoon after a medical event and Search and Rescue crews spent 10 hours in heavy winter conditions to recover him.  MedfordAlert

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Design & Build Jam pitch competition is postponed to early March from its February 18 start at the White Rabbit Creator Clubhouse, where local makers, students, and entrepreneurs will join a four-hour sprint to create and pitch prototypes with local mentorship and AI tools.  KDRV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pacific Bible College will unveil its new 13,000-book theological library on Friday, Feb. 20 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at its campus (516 West 4th Street), providing a free space for learning and community interaction.  KDRV
  • Providence Medford launched a two-week internship program for 10 high school students from St. Mary’s School earlier this week to introduce them to healthcare careers. Students spend a class period at Providence and visit local health organizations in Southern Oregon to explore different roles.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local cyclists raised safety concerns at a recent council meeting over reverting Main Street to its former layout that removes a protected bike lane—an approved change expected to cost up to $1M and finish by fall.  KOBI-TV
  • Jackson County Library District continues operations without a library director after removing former director Kari May's bank account access following staff reports; a board work session is held Friday from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. to discuss appointing an interim director with a target set for March.  KOBI-TV

  • Rogue River saw its first three state wrestling qualifiers at South Umpqua High School on Saturday, Feb. 14; Lucas Gunn (13-3) and Rylan Homan (22-16) advanced at the Class 3A District 2 Championships.  Rogue River Press
  • Mt. Ashland reopens today after a significant snowstorm left 20 inches on the slopes and 31 inches at the base; the Sonnet, Lithia, Comer and Windsor Chairlifts will run at 9 a.m. and visitors are urged to use open, groomed trails — following safety tips to avoid tree well hazards.  KDRV
