COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Talent Business Alliance secured a spot in Travel Oregon’s Recreation Ready Program for its Wine Country Biking Routes project. The nine-month planning phase will create 5-50 mile routes with adaptive infrastructure and e-bike charging stations linking Bear Creek Greenway with wineries, farms, and cultural sites in Talent and Phoenix.  KDRV

  • Former employees at Harry & David in Medford report layoffs since December, with one seasonal worker who had worked over 20 years saying he was let go just before Christmas (1-800-Flowers has not confirmed the layoffs).  KOBI-TV

  • OSF will start its 2026 season on March 13th as Associate Artistic Director Rosa Joshi previews the lineup on Your Place at 7. Taylor Owen shares insights on new productions + key dates for the festival.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bureau of Land Management is holding a public meeting on Thursday, Mar. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the BLM Medford District Office to discuss the Queens Gold Project, a plan to thin 4,000 acres near Gold Hill to reduce wildfire risks and support local jobs.  KDRV
  • Former head of Saint Mary’s School of Medford, Frank Phillips, has been offered the interim director role at the Jackson County Library District following a unanimous 5-0 board vote during Tuesday’s special meeting. He will take charge immediately if he accepts the offer (with a $10K base salary approved).  KOBI-TV
  • Volunteers at Fire District 3 honed ladder skills last Tuesday at a training drill led by Engine 23 — they practiced ladder carries, throws, and safety measures to support rescue operations.  KDRV

  • RCC Dental Hygiene Clinic is recruiting patients for free dental screenings from Mar. 30 to Apr. 4; evening + Saturday appointments are offered at the Rogue Community College clinic.  Rogue River Press

  • Mason Scott, a junior for the Rogue River boys' basketball team, repeats as a 3A all-Southern Oregon Conference second-team selection. His achievement highlights continued success for the local team.  Rogue River Press
  • Olympic gold medalist Karen Chen will lead a figure skating clinic at the RRRink in Medford on March 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.—participants pay $135 to support the rink while free viewing is available, and registration closes March 13 at 11:59 p.m.  KOBI-TV
  • Ride the Rogue returns this fall as the annual cycling fundraiser for the Rogue River Greenway Foundation — an event that started in 2006 and missed a year. Organizers say the ride is scheduled for Saturday with more details to come.  Rogue River Press
