  • Medford’s newest Goodwill store will open on May 14 at 1688 Delta Waters Road next to Buffalo Wild Wings — creating over 35 job opportunities with full- and part-time roles and on-the-job training through the GoodWorks program.  KOBI-TV
  • On Wednesday, Oregon Business ranked Adroit Construction from Ashland as the second best company to work for in the state, highlighting its 46 years of experience and community projects. The company is known for its commitment to safety and employee collaboration — a factor in projects from Astoria to Brookings.  KDRV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Nearly 50 vendors will showcase gems, fossils, and jewelry at the Jackson County Expo's 2026 Roxy Ann Gem and Mineral Show in Central Point this weekend. The event opens today at 10:00 a.m. and features demonstrations, family activities, hourly giveaways, and a live auction on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.  KOBI-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • In February, the Bureau of Land Management sold 27.6 million board feet of timber from 1,255 public acres for $8,327,275 — exceeding appraised values and reflecting strong market demand in American lumber manufacturing.  Rogue River Press
  • Farmers in Central Point are worried as a warm, dry winter causes crops to bloom nearly two weeks early—this exposes peach and blueberry orchards to frost risk through mid-May. Willow Springs Ranch owner Jerry May said a sudden drop to 28 degrees could freeze the blossoms.  KDRV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Southern Oregon University (SOU) received $15 million in state funding and will work with Deloitte Consulting for seven weeks to create a long-term financial plan. The university will hold stakeholder focus groups and submit monthly reports with a final plan due by April 30.  KOBI-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Southern Oregon can create defensible space by pruning branches, installing vent covers, and removing mulch as fire season nears. Jacksonville's deputy Firewise coordinator Jeffery McFarland said homeowners can start with small upgrades on their schedule—free assessments are available in 41 Firewise neighborhoods.  KDRV
  • Oregon is facing its second-lowest snowpack on record as warm weather leaves levels at 29% of average, and State Climatologist Larry O’Neill warns that low snowpack may raise wildfire risk—rainfall is needed to boost water supplies in the spring.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bureau of Land Management’s plan will increase timber production on 2.5 million acres and restore logging levels on O&C lands, prompting divided reactions from county officials & environmental groups. Residents can submit feedback until Monday, Mar. 23 via online, email, or mail to the BLM office in Portland.  KOBI-TV

  • Former Olympian Karen Chen will lead a figure skating clinic at The RRRink in Medford this Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon; check-in begins at 9:00 a.m., registration costs $135, and club ice is available from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. for $20.  KOBI-TV
  • Mt. Ashland Ski Area closed its 2025-26 winter season early due to low snowfall and high temperatures, operating 17 days and 7 twilight nights.
