CULTURE NEWS

  • Holly Theatre marked its one-year anniversary this month in Medford after reopening in 2025 following nearly 40 years of vacancy — it is now the largest indoor performing arts center hosting events, screenings and premieres.  KOBI-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Crater High School's speech and debate team will send 13 students to the OSAA State Tournament in April — the most participants ever for the school. Coaches credit a new competitive culture and hard work for the team's success.  KDRV
  • Central Point School District has invited local families with children turning 5 by Sept. 1 to attend the Kindergarten launch — hosted at all five elementary and primary schools — next month.  Rogue River Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The DEQ said Jackson County had 7 burn days with the latest on March 16 and noted that dry winter weather and low snowpack may lead to more burn days in March, April, and May. Firefighters are on standby and updates are available by phone (541-776-7007).  KOBI-TV
  • The Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District is burning 20 acres in the Panther Peak area of the Ashland Watershed today to manage forest fuels and lower wildfire risks; officials say smoke may settle in valleys overnight but should dissipate in a few days.  KDRV
