  • Local World War II veteran Henry 'Hank' Dorig celebrated his 100th birthday on Wednesday—surrounded by friends, family, and two Navy representatives at Horton Plaza in Medford—and he dedicated the event to honor his late wife, with whom he shared 79 years of marriage.  KOBI-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Elijah Zeigler, a 21-year-old from Medford, pleaded guilty to attempted assault in the first degree and unlawful use of a weapon for a May 2024 shooting at the 1900 Block of Gene Cameron Way and was sentenced to 50 months in prison—he will also serve three years of post-prison supervision.  KDRV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Heavy rain caused flooding that led to a large landslide near the Grave Creek Boat Ramp, prompting the Bureau of Land Management to close the Rogue River Trail from Grave Creek to Marial until the area is made safe. Public access—including hiking, hunting, and camping—is not allowed until further notice.  KDRV
  • Lomakatsi unlocked frozen funds from its agreement with the US Fish & Wildlife Service’s Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program and resumed controlled pile burning on 900 acres across 45 properties to lower wildfire risks before the wildfire season. The team lost a month due to funding review delays and is now working hard on safe burns in Jacksonville and nearby areas — local crews hope to cover all key spots.  KDRV

  • Rogue Credit Union and Members 1st Credit Union announced they intend to merge to form a stronger financial institution—pending regulatory and membership approval and expected to be finalized in 2026. The new union will serve 236,000 members with about $4 billion in assets and keep all current branch locations.  MedfordAlert
