COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jackson County Parks finished nearly $1 million in improvements to repave parking areas at Howard Prairie Resort, install backup generators at Joseph Stewart Park, and add an eco-friendly dock at Emigrant Lake Park in preparation for summer 2026.  KDRV
  • Frita (the flamingo) underwent surgery at Bliss Animal Eye Care to remove her painful, damaged eye while Viserion received an eye exam for his rare autoimmune condition. The work was part of a special partnership between the local veterinary ophthalmologist and Wildlife Safari to save both animals' sight.  KDRV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Grape vines in the Rogue Valley broke bud three weeks early, raising concerns among growers including Patrick Flannery and Paula Brown at Dana Campbell Vineyards — who say extra irrigation and mold spray may be needed if hard freezes occur.  KDRV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rogue Community College is asking locals to donate clothing, shoes and accessories for Spring $1 Clothing Sale benefiting scholarships; drop-offs occur Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at college sites while the sale runs April 14 at Riverside Campus (Room 129) and April 16 at Redwood Campus.  MedfordAlert
  • House Bill 4124 awaits Governor Kotek's signature and directs the Higher Education Coordinating Commission to recommend improvements for Oregon’s higher education system, with a preliminary report due Oct. 1 and a final report due April 1. The legislature also allocated $15 million to SOU to address a cash flow shortfall.  KOBI-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • ODFW staff found quagga mussels on a motorboat arriving at Ashland’s Boat Inspection Station on March 21—a first for 2026—and decontaminated the vessel to protect local waterways. Boaters are reminded to clean, drain and dry their watercraft as required.  KDRV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Medford City Council approved the Economic Improvement District today — a downtown revitalization measure spanning from Bear Creek Greenway to Oakdale that will require business owners to pay 10 cents per sqft for three years to fund local improvements.  KDRV
  • Drivers should expect delays and lane closures on North Riverside Ave between Ohio Street and South Highway 62 starting today as Three Dimensional Contracting works on underground utilities until April 3. Flaggers will direct traffic (8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily), so plan alternate routes.  KDRV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Medford law firm Schlesinger and deVilleneuve said most clients reached an out-of-court settlement with Asante yesterday after filing a $300 million malpractice suit, although a former nurse faces pending criminal charges related to alleged drug diversion — settlement details remain confidential.  KOBI-TV
