ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Traffic in Medford was backed up for about an hour on North Riverside just outside of Crater Chain Saw when a woman in her 40s crashed her vehicle after suffering a medical event near McAndrews Road on Friday morning, and Medford Police, Fire, and Mercy Flights responded to treat her and two children for minor injuries before a private vehicle took them to a hospital.  KOBI-TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Dutch Bros opened its drive-thru coffee shop in Medford on Friday. The new location is at the corner of Murphy and Doctors Park Drive across from Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center and offered medium drinks for $3 all day Friday.  KOBI-TV
  • Em’z Blendz has launched its new location at the corner of Main and Bartlett in downtown Medford and will soon offer live soap-making demos while transitioning production—Emily Whitlock, who began the company over 25 years ago in her kitchen, said the new space gives room to grow.  KOBI-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Tyler Petersen, 42, was convicted on March 27 for burglary in the second degree and two counts of criminal mischief after being found stuck in an elevator on December 1 at 711 E Main Street (damaging the elevator and an officer’s patrol vehicle and causing several thousand dollars in repair costs), which led to a 90-month prison sentence.  MedfordAlert

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lomakatsi Restoration Project conducted pile burns on Friday at three private sites near Dark Hollow Rd, Adams Rd — Coleman Creek Rd south of Medford. The burns are part of a restoration project to reduce wildfire risk and may continue for a couple days if weather conditions allow.  KDRV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Oregon Health Authority said HHS cut about $117 million in COVID-era grants that supported programs for mental health, vaccines, and lab work. The loss of funding will affect Tribal communities and key services — and the agency is checking if the cuts are legal — to plan its next steps.  KOBI-TV
