COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The BLM and The Nature Conservancy are set to offer free guided hikes at Table Rocks starting April 11, with sessions running through June. Hikers will enjoy family-friendly trails that teach about wildflowers, wildlife and local history on a paved, one-mile loop trail.  KDRV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The new shared coworking space Regus National Drive opened on Feb. 1 in Medford; the facility offers 37 offices — two conference rooms, a full kitchen and showers — after partners Rick Moir and Lee Lanphier remodeled their building at the request of Regus, a UK based workspace brand.  KOBI-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • South Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership released its fire outlook report showing rising drought and fire risks in parts of northwest and south central Oregon due to warm, dry March conditions and low snowpack; Lake + Klamath counties may see fuels dry earlier and increased risk in July.  KOBI-TV
  • Wildfire protection partners, including the Oregon Department of Forestry, have launched an app and website to help residents check if debris burning is allowed. The app lets users input their location to see the red light green light system — a tool for matching air quality with burn restrictions.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Wednesday, April 2, Jackson County commissioners declared a drought emergency after a warm, dry winter led to the state’s second-lowest snowpack — they asked the governor to issue a state drought emergency to unlock water assistance for 40,000 acres of irrigation lands.  KOBI-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Thursday, NAMI Oregon's executive director Chris Bouneff met with local leaders in Medford to push for state-level mental health reforms that aim to expand crisis stabilization and address costly treatment delays - key advocates from United Way and YouthLine also joined the meeting.  KOBI-TV
