- ➤ A 56-year-old man, Steven Perron, pleaded guilty to first-degree arson for causing a butane hash oil explosion at Rogue Retreat Crossings on October 16th, 2024—he received a sentence of 40 months in prison followed by three years of supervision. KOBI-TV
- ➤ Central Point Police charged two people on April 2 after recovering four stolen vehicles; Curtis Jensen, seen fleeing in a stolen white van with California plates, faces theft and unauthorized use charges while 52-year-old Penny Thompson was cited for theft and warrants—both suspects are linked to multiple vehicle thefts in the area. - ➤ Today, the Oregon Cabaret Theatre in Ashland starts performances of the musical Waitress that will run through June 15. Tickets cost $32 and the show tells the story of a pie maker stuck in a loveless marriage—marking the first time an Oregon theatre has received royalties for the production. KOBI-TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ An Oregon State University study shows that warming waters in Southern Oregon will shrink habitats for native fish like redband and bull trout, forcing them into closer contact with invasive species such as smallmouth bass and northern pike by 2070. The study warns that dam removal efforts might allow these aggressive invaders to mix with native fish and further stress their survival. KOBI-TV
- ➤ The Bureau of Land Management and The Nature Conservancy are offering free guided hikes at Upper and Lower Table Rocks—available during April, May, and June—that teach visitors about wildflowers, bees and local history. Rogue River Press
