COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jackson County Rotarians held a community blood drive Tuesday at Eastwood Baptist Church in Medford in cooperation with the Red Cross. Donors who chose the power red donation (providing two units of red blood) helped save up to six lives, according to John Suarez.  KOBI-TV
  • Goodwill will break ground on a new location in North Medford next to Buffalo Wild Wings off Excel Drive later this month. Construction will begin next month and the facility—providing a retail store, donation center and job connection—will open in spring 2026.  KOBI-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two crashes are delaying southbound traffic on I-5 just before Exit 27 in South Medford; trip check cameras show the backup extends to the North Medford interchange.  KDRV
  • NewsWatch 12 reported a structure fire at Medford Plaza Apartments on April 15th—Oakdale Ave from 8th to 11th St and 10th St from King to Ivy St were closed by Medford Police.  KDRV
  • Emergency crews responded today to a structure fire at Medford Plaza Apartments near the intersection of Oakdale Avenue and 10th Street — they contained the fire to an appliance in the laundry room and have reopened the roadways.  MedfordAlert

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Old Spaghetti Factory, a Portland-based Italian-American chain, will open on April 28 at the historic train station on Front Street in downtown Medford - the building where Porters closed last spring.  KOBI-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Two people were arrested during a month-long drug trafficking investigation in Eagle Point when Medford officers seized more than 100 grams of cocaine, eight firearms, about $48,000 in cash, four vehicles and a motorcycle.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Tina Kotek held a press conference in Salem Tuesday—she said that visa troubles for international students are alarming and could hurt local universities while urging the state to free up federal funds for pressing needs like wildfire recovery.  KOBI-TV
