COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Stark, a 1-year, 8-month-old Boxer and Pit Bull mix, has been at a Phoenix animal shelter for over 100 days and is available for adoption this week with waived fees — standard licensing fees still apply. Shelter staff report he follows basic commands well and recommend regular exercise — a meet-and-greet is required with any other dogs.  MedfordAlert
  • Emigrant Lake is now completely full for the first time in eight years, and Jackson County Parks upgraded ADA restrooms and added new tent pads in preparation for a busy summer. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation reported the lake as 99% full—officials plan to add kayak and paddle board rentals along with a remodeled concession stand, so visitors should plan early during weekends.  KOBI-TV
  • Medford’s 48th annual Rod and Custom Show—set in Rogue X’s 75,000 square feet of display space—is scheduled for this weekend to feature custom builds, classic restorations and motorcycles. The event runs Saturday, April 26th from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 27th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.—with admission at $15 for adults and $13 for kids, seniors and military members.  KOBI-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An injured hiker on the Rainie Falls Trail was rescued by Josephine County Search and Rescue after a call came in shortly after 1:00 p.m. on April 23 + the rescue team used a special wheeled litter to carry the injured person from about two miles into the trail + and the hiker is now safe.  KDRV

CRIME NEWS

  • A Jackson County judge sentenced 34-year-old James Cecil to 70 months in prison and three years of supervision for domestic violence stemming from a May 2, 2024 incident in Jacksonville—officers said the incident left the victim injured.  KDRV

CULTURE NEWS

  • This weekend, the Glide Wildflower Show will be at the Glide Community Center on April 26 and 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. — featuring over 600 native species with plants and seeds available for purchase, while the Spring Native Plant Sale will be held on April 27 at The Pollination Place on Main Street in Phoenix from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  KOBI-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Medford School Board moved forward with plans to rebuild North Medford High School’s gym using a CM/GC method — demolition is complete and engineers are assessing the south and west walls — with a third-party assessment scheduled for May 8 to guide next steps.  KOBI-TV

  • On April 18, Evans Valley Fire District held its annual awards banquet—Hood was named Firefighter of the Year and Tuttle was honored—with Chief Tom Davidson saying the 2024–25 year was full of growth, challenges, and many accomplishments.  Rogue River Press

  • PGA professionals Patrick Oropallo, Norm Blandel, and Vince Domenzain will host the 100 Holes for HOPE + Next Generation fundraiser at Stone Ridge Golf Club outside of White City on May 27 starting at 6:00 a.m. to support programs that help veterans and bring competitive golf to kids.  KOBI-TV
