The plan will transform a 5.72-acre site into a mixed-use development with Ollie’s new 2,700-square-foot building, including a rooftop deck—designed for up to 49 guests—and a smaller coffee shop building with a drive-thru window. - ➤ After a domestic disturbance in Medford, 47-year-old Alfred William Mabrier stole a friend's car and led police on a chase to Ashland on Monday afternoon—he crashed at the intersection of Maple and North Main Streets—and was taken to a hospital as he now faces charges including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, robbery, hit and run, and reckless driving. - ➤ Medford police arrested a 34-year-old homeless man, Christopher Shane Boyce, on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter after investigators linked him to the fatal assault of 36-year-old Rory James Pomeroy outside a Lowe's at Crater Lake Plaza last week—his case will be sent to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. - ➤ The Oregon District 2 Indivisible’s team hosted a forum Wednesday night where six candidates for three Medford School Board seats shared their views on school issues—such as religion, social learning and board transparency—as they criticized the current board's performance. Ballots will be mailed on May 2 while the special election will be held on May 20. KOBI-TV

- ➤ Medford residents must have a Real ID or passport to fly beginning May 7, and the DMV said its appointments and issuances have surged. The DMV has hired extra workers to speed the process — a change to meet high demand — and those without a Real ID may use another accepted form of ID. KOBI-TV
- ➤ Last year, the Medford Fire Department increased its staff, got new tools, and started an EMS squad at Station 13 to help with emergencies—and six new firefighters were hired using a $2.5 million FEMA grant.
