Local veterans returned to Medford Sunday after a free four-day trip to Washington, D.C. that honored their service — fire trucks sprayed water on their plane and a National Guard flag line greeted them on arrival.

A new report from the Hospital Association of Oregon said nearly half of Oregon hospitals operated at a loss in 2024 as rising costs and Medicaid paying only 56 cents per dollar hurt finances.

Hospitals cut over 800 jobs and reduced services while struggling to cover costs—prompting calls from leaders for policy changes to protect care and the state economy.
