A Verizon outage at 6:19 p.m. Monday prevented Jackson County customers from calling or texting 911 — Emergency Communications advised residents to use a landline or another carrier until repairs are completed.

Element by Westin—a 123-room Marriott extended-stay hotel approved by the Medford Urban Renewal Agency—is set to begin construction this summer once developers Western Hospitality LLC receive final design review approval from Marriott.

The hotel will open in spring 2027 near Pear Blossom Park Amphitheater on 4th St. and Bartlett St.

Registration is open for Ride the Rim at Crater Lake National Park—an event that will close the East Rim to drivers for safe cycling.

Cyclists can sign up to ride on Saturday, September 6— and again on Saturday, September 13.
