  • Art in Bloom returns today in downtown Medford—bringing Pear Blossom Park to life with chalk art, live music and vendors—and will continue on Sunday for family fun. In Phoenix, the Citywide Yard Sale takes place today with additional sales into Sunday, and Phoenix High School will host a parking lot sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  KOBI-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • A vehicle crashed into a medical office building Friday in southeast Medford—striking a dental office and seriously injuring an employee while the driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital—and authorities are still investigating the incident.  MedfordAlert

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Oregon Health Authority lifted a recreational advisory for Emigrant Lake on Friday after the Talent Irrigation District and Jackson County Parks found zero evidence of toxic algae. Jackson County Parks director Steve Lambert said recent tests for cyano-toxins confirmed the lake is safe to recreate in—calls from concerned residents had surged while the advisory was in effect.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Medford School Board Member Michelle Atkinson announced her resignation during a Thursday work session and will step down from position 5 on June 1, shortening her term originally set to last until June 30. The board approved a timeline that opens applications on May 15, makes them due on May 22, and schedules a swearing-in on June 5 — a move intended to let new board members train with the incoming appointee — as three board seats are up for grabs.  KOBI-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Oregon Health Authority has lifted the health advisory for Emigrant Lake near Ashland after tests showed cyanotoxin levels are below recreational guidelines—visitors should remain alert as conditions may change quickly.  MedfordAlert

SPORTS NEWS

  • Mt. Ashland Ski Area will replace its Ariel and Windsor chairlifts with modern fixed grip triple-chairs in spring 2026. The project will include targeted tree removal to widen lift corridors for improved safety and efficiency while conservation measures protect the environment.  KDRV
  • The Southern Oregon Open is taking place this weekend at Rogue X and other Medford sites with about 200 youth basketball teams expected to bring nearly $1 million in economic activity. Local tourism leaders noted its boost to hotels, restaurants and retail while supporting Kids Unlimited—helping expand youth sports opportunities.  KDRV
