COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ More than 50 volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will join with the Downtown Medford Association and United Way of Jackson County to clean and update over 250 tree wells downtown on Saturday during the Day of Caring project—this work is set to boost walkability and support local business activity during the upcoming Rogue Comic Con weekend. Local partners such as Grocery Outlet and Rogue Disposal & Recycling also back the revitalization effort. MedfordAlert
- ➤ Lithia4Kids awarded eight nonprofits over $30,000 in grant funding Wednesday to support youth programs that provide food security, basic needs, and school supplies in our area. The event featured a PFAFF race car + food trucks and included remarks from local leaders celebrating community support for these initiatives. KOBI-TV
- ➤ The city of Medford will soon rename Field 6 at Lithia & Driveway Fields as 'Greg Jones Field'—honoring the longest-serving Parks and Recreation Director who also served on the city council and Water Commission. A new sign will be installed July 1—recognizing 41 years of community service. KOBI-TV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Car crashes in Medford unsettled residents and led officials to urge drivers to slow down as summer travel picks up; three serious accidents happened in one day including a crash on I-5 and another where a semi-truck hit an ODOT vehicle, injuring two crew members. KDRV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Medford Police arrested 43-year-old Phillip John Hill after his white 2008 Ford F250 crashed into a dental clinic on Murphy St on May 9 — he and a clinic employee were injured and taken to the hospital, and Hill faces charges of second-degree assault, DUII of a controlled substance, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving with the case to be prosecuted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Bert Davis, known as the Coppertown Clown (with over 50 years in the rodeo business), will perform with his group of rescued dogs during a three-day show at the Wild Rogue Pro Rodeo at Jackson County Expo in Central Point starting today. This marks his first act in Central Point since 1980 and is expected to bring laughter and excitement to attendees. KOBI-TV

- ➤ Medford emergency manager Aaron Ott said Jackson County is testing the new Jackson Alerts system on the Project Genasys platform to send notifications based on zone information. Registered residents will receive a test notification today after 10 a.m.—if not, they should check the county website. KOBI-TV

- ➤ Rogue Valley Manor is recognized on the national stage after receiving the Seven Seals Award from the Employer Support Guard Reserves—following a nomination by Airman First Class Carlos Manzo-Avalos, a caregiver who has worked in the Memory Support Center for six years. KOBI-TV
