ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Southwestern Oregon Economic Summit is underway in Canyonville where business leaders, policymakers, and community stakeholders from Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson, and Josephine counties are meeting to address economic challenges and plan for future opportunities — the three-day event includes panels, tours, speakers, and networking.  KOBI-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Logos Public Charter School in Medford started construction on a new tutoring and performing arts center — a 17,000 square-foot facility that will feature 17 meeting rooms for individual tutoring and family events like Spring Fest. The school serves over 1,300 students, boasts a 98% graduation rate, and will see 17 students earn an associate degree while still in high school.  KOBI-TV
  • The Central Point School District alerted families to a cybersecurity incident after detecting unauthorized access to its digital systems Wednesday morning. Superintendent Walt Davenport said the district immediately activated protocols to isolate the affected systems—law enforcement and cybersecurity experts are now investigating while there is no evidence that personal data has been misused.  KOBI-TV
  • Crews at Spiegelberg Stadium are replacing old wooden bleachers with new aluminum seating ahead of graduation season — part of a $195,000 project by the Medford School District. The district’s fabrication team is saving about $200,000 in labor costs — they expect to complete the home side before graduation.  KDRV

  • The Oregon Legislature passed a law that makes it a crime to share realistic AI-created intimate images meant to harass victims—closing a gap in current revenge pornography laws.
