- ➤ Rogue Retreat runs a weekly program that employs 14 unhoused people in a 6‑month paid job training program to clean Medford’s historic district and greenway—reducing local fire risks and helping build job skills for permanent work. KOBI-TV
- ➤ Over 90 nonprofits in Southern Oregon will get a major funding boost as the Oregon Community Foundation distributes $2.8 million in grants to social service groups such as the Addictions Recovery Center in Medford and Sunstone Housing Collaborative — funds from the Spring Community round. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Crews from the Illinois Valley Fire District — along with state police and the sheriff’s office — responded to a fatal two-car crash on OR-199 at milepost 28 near Redwood Highway and Waldamar Road in Cave Junction at about 10:45 a.m. Monday morning, causing delays of 20 minutes to two hours and leaving one person dead. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Saul Uriel Nunez-Vega, a 24-year-old Mexican national, pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a firearm in Jackson County after law enforcement responded to an attempted kidnapping and shooting in White City on November 14th — his sentencing will be held on August 13th and he faces up to 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release. - ➤ Local fighters are training hard for Rogue Valley Rumble XIV, which will take place on May 31 (at the Medford Armory). Spartan Boxing coach Troy Wohosky said his fighters have been practicing with three workouts a day (to build strength and skill) for over a month as they prepare for the show. KOBI-TV
