COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Several Medford roads closed starting May 25 for maintenance; Doolittle maintained Roberts Road and Cedar Links Drive May 26-28 + will shift to Springbrook and Sunrise Avenues May 28-31, while Avista Utilities and Pilot Rock Excavation handled Windsor and Coker Butte Roads with detours.  KDRV
  • Hundreds attended the Memorial Day ceremony at Eagle Point National Cemetery on Monday (May 25), where military honors, a wreath laying and a WWII Stearman flyover honored veterans as speakers including U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden and Rep. Cliff Bentz addressed the crowd.  KOBI-TV
  • Medford held a dedication ceremony on Monday afternoon for its new Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall outside Rogue X at North Ross Lane. The wall is a replica of the Washington, D.C. landmark that displays 58,479 names and was funded by the Southern Oregon Veterans Benefit, the state, and Howard Memorial Sports Park.  KOBI-TV
  • On May 22, firefighters responded to two rekindled burn piles in Illinois Valley + officials urge residents to ensure burned piles are fully extinguished and cool before leaving them unattended.  KDRV

  • Yesterday, a fast-moving wildfire along Tolo and Blackwell Road led officials to issue level 1 and level 2 evacuation notices for residents near the 8000 block, urging them to prepare emergency kits and follow local updates.  MedfordAlert

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Medford Municipal Court will waive wedding ceremony fees for all of June — celebrating wedding month. Couples need to secure a valid marriage license and schedule an appointment at city hall to have their free ceremony.  KOBI-TV
