- ➤ The Bureau of Land Management is asking for public input on a proposed timber sale covering 5,300 acres in the Applegate Valley near Jacksonville to reduce wildfire risks from dead trees—comments will be accepted online until June 23 and proceeds will be shared between the U.S. Treasury and 18 Western Oregon counties. - ➤ Wildfire season will start Sunday for Jackson and Josephine counties as state and federal firefighters report that Southern Oregon will face above average temperatures and below average precipitation while inclement weather on the East Coast may affect fire response. Senator Ron Wyden said he will partner with Senator Ted Budd in the Senate to expand programs for prescribed burns — a move focused on public safety. KOBI-TV
- ➤ The Medford Airport is running a three-day emergency training with airport staff and first responders simulating fire emergencies and safety briefings today at Rogue Valley International Airport. Fire Chief Scott Hollingsworth said the drills—designed to test the 90-second evacuation route—will help improve safety procedures. KOBI-TV
- ➤ Southern Oregon fire agencies are getting ready for a tough wildfire season with hotter, drier weather expected this summer. Local officials, state and federal agencies and Sen. Ron Wyden say cuts to weather services may force funding changes — a move meant to keep communities safe. KDRV

- ➤ On Tuesday at 6:00 a.m., professional golfers from the Pacific Northwest PGA took part in the 100-hole challenge at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Eagle Point to raise over $5,000 for PGA HOPE and the PGA Jr. League. Master golfer Norm Blandel said the event supports efforts to provide veterans with therapy and gives underserved youth an introduction to the sport. KOBI-TV
