COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Two breast cancer survivors, Chris Brinegar and Adrienne Wells, will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Medford Rogues’ Paint the Park Pink event on June 7 to raise funds for the Providence Leila J. Eisenstein Breast Center — the game will unite survivors, fans, and local families to share a message of hope and strength.  MedfordAlert
  • Medford’s historic Palm Fountain in Alba Park has been restored and is flowing again after more than 20 years of being dry. Van Row Mechanical completed the $42,398 project funded by the Council Community Initiative Fund (using local and state marijuana tax revenue) as the city addressed renewed interest in the park.  MedfordAlert
  • Medford is asking residents to take a survey — part of the Downtown 2040 Plan — to help decide updates for Bear Creek Greenway, a community food hub, and alleyway art. Principal planner Carla Paladino said survey feedback will guide which project gets more time and funding.  KOBI-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the disappearance of 12-year-old Taylor Pool, who was last seen May 15 near Rogue River Drive in Eagle Point and later dropped off in McKinleyville, as officials believe she may be near Crescent City, Arcata, and Loleta in Humboldt County.  MedfordAlert
  • The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is investigating missing 12 year old Taylor Pool from Eagle Point who weighs 100 pounds and has hair that is reddish brown and hazel eyes, last seen on May 15th near Rogue River Dr before being dropped off in McKinleyville—authorities say she may be seen in Crescent City, Arcata and Loleta and urge anyone with information to call 5417748333.  KOBI-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Starting July 1, Oregon's minimum wage will increase by 35 cents based on location, rising to $15.05 in Jackson + Josephine counties, to $14.05 in Non-Urban counties like Curry, Coos, Douglas, Klamath, and Lake, and to $16.30 in the Portland Metro Area. The state adjusts its wage annually using the Consumer Price Index while the federal rate remains at $7.25.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A dangerous intersection known as the Big X is being fixed with new pavement and better bike and walking paths where highways 62, 99 and 238 meet. Workers began in August 2024 and the work will finish by fall — the project costs $18.2 million to improve road safety.  KOBI-TV
  • Oregon House Bill 2385 passed the legislature and now awaits the governor’s signature as it aims to protect rural patients’ access to discounted medications through the federal 340B program. Hospitals serving areas like Josephine, Coos, and Curry counties face long drives due to few pharmacies + the measure is expected to ease these restrictions+.  KOBI-TV
