CRIME NEWS

  • The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is looking for Taylor Pool, a missing 12-year-old girl from Eagle Point who was last seen May 15th on Rogue River Drive after being dropped off in McKinleyville, and investigators say she may also be in Crescent City, Arcata or Loleta.  KDRV

  • RCC Music Department will present two free concerts in Medford in June showcasing its student musicians and giving the community a chance to enjoy a range of timeless music — the events will highlight emerging local talent.  Rogue River Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said fawns seen alone are not abandoned but are hidden by mothers during birth season; six reports of people removing or asking about them have led to a warning that interference can lower survival chances and is illegal (class-A misdemeanor with penalties).  KOBI-TV
  • Bureau of Land Management restricted activities on public lands in Southwest Oregon to reduce human-caused fires—fire prevention measures went into effect on June 1 as officials prepare the region for summer.  Rogue River Press
  • The Rogue Valley Council of Governments Natural Resources Department reported increased bacteria levels in parts of Bear Creek Basin—affecting Bear Creek near Lithia and Driveway Fields in Medford and Jackson Creek from Jacksonville to Dean Creek Road—that exceed safety standards for swimming and wading. Residents are advised to avoid contact with the water and ensure children are supervised while near the affected creeks.  KDRV
  • The Rogue River Watershed Council is restoring Elk Creek to help salmon spawn and reduce fire risks by placing logs in the water and removing invasive species—actions that support healthier local streams. Phase two will double the initial work—expanding riparian improvements to boost fish passage and stabilize riverbanks.  KDRV
  • Today at the Springfield tree farm, Michael Stephens led an ODF briefing to train locals for wildfire season as summer nears—steps are in place to boost readiness for potential fires.  Rogue River Press

  • The Bureau of Land Management will offer up to 8.5 million board feet of timber for sale on June 26th across 380 public acres and the timber will supply critical construction materials—this sale is part of a plan to meet ongoing demand.  Rogue River Press
