COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On June 8th, 2025, participants gathered at U.S. Cellular Field in Medford for the 18.6-mile Norwegian Foot March—an endurance challenge hosted by the Oregon Army National Guard's 1st Battalion that tested their limits.  Rogue River Press

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Brock Andrew Ewers aged 46 from Grants Pass died Sunday night in Josephine County during a police pursuit on Galice Road near Merlin at 10:30 p.m. after passing Alameda Park he lost control, went off a cliff and crashed into the Rogue River—his body was recovered Monday while the Oregon State Police investigate the incident.  KOBI-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • William Triplett, a 38-year-old Medford man who shot a man at Hawthorne Park in May and fled the scene, was sentenced to 70 months in prison and three years of post-prison supervision by the Oregon Department of Corrections (ODC) after changing his plea to no contest, and he will face murder charges if his victim dies within a year.  KDRV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • More than 90% of the funds set aside for 2020 wildfire recovery remains unspent nearly four years later, leaving hundreds of families in Jackson County and nearby areas without secure housing. State Representative Pam Marsh said the state is working to speed up the distribution—officials expect the unspent dollars to be used before they expire in 2029.  KOBI-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Rogue Valley Mountain Bike Association and Earthworx, LLC will start construction on the new A-Line mountain bike jump line on Bull Gap Trail, which will be closed from June 22 through early August — bikers will use an alternate route while an official opening is announced later — as the project aims to boost local biking options.  KDRV
