- ➤ Gabriella Calicchio (OSF’s executive director) is stepping down after seven months and is currently on leave before her last day will be July 1; the board (set to announce interim plans soon) confirmed the change. KDRV

- ➤ On June 17th, NBC5 News Director Joe Sullivan interviewed Southern Oregon PBS CEO Phil Meyer—explaining that a House vote to cut funding for PBS and NPR could reduce the station’s budget by 37%—which threatens local educational programs, documentaries, and emergency alerts. KOBI-TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A local couple in Jackson County lost their dog three days after it was exposed to harmful algae blooms at Lost Creek Lake — they posted a handmade sign at the lake to raise awareness — and the Oregon Health Authority updated its harmful algae bloom tracker and placed the lake under precautionary status. - ➤ Sen. Jeff Golden from Ashland has proposed Senate Bill 1177 to shift part of the state's extra tax revenue to a new wildfire-mitigation fund for fire prevention; the bill is under review in the Senate Finance Committee and would take effect immediately if approved to address rising wildfire risks.
