ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two cars crashed Tuesday afternoon near Ashland on I-5 at milepost 4 when a black Honda Civic driven by Terielizabeth Smead veered into a parked Freightliner — killing passenger Harry Smead at the scene while Smead sustained serious injuries and the truck driver remained unharmed as authorities closed the highway for about five hours. - ➤ On June 17, near Ashland, a two-vehicle crash on I-5 caused a Honda Civic to strike a parked semi-truck at milepost 4 in Jackson County and left a passenger dead and the driver seriously injured—state police and county officials investigated the incident. MedfordAlert
- ➤ Fire crews are responding to the Red Blanket Fire east of Prospect on Red Blanket Rd and are working to gain access to the five-acre fire (0% contained) as engines, crews, and aircraft are dispatched. KDRV

- ➤ Medford Parks and Rec kicked off summer last weekend with the first-ever Chalk About Medford Festival at Rogue X—local artists competed in a chalk art contest while community members enjoyed music, free food and a movie. - ➤ Crews with the Oregon Department of Forestry battled a fast-growing fire that sparked yesterday around noon on the 2000 block of Upper Applegate Road and expanded to 120 acres by 2:30 p.m.—evacuation orders were issued for zones JAC-427, JAC-436, and JAC-421. KOBI-TV
- ➤ Oregon’s Division of Financial Regulation (DFR) urged residents to prepare now for a wildfire season expected to be active due to hotter and drier conditions.
