- ➤ Rogue Credit Union will host its Movies in the Park series on three Saturdays in July, starting with Mufasa: The Lion King at Bear Creek Park on July 12. The series will continue on July 19 with the original Lion King at Rogue X Spray Park and conclude on July 26 with Elf—a Christmas in July screening—with free pre-show games, giveaways, and activities for families. - ➤ The City of Medford announced plans to upgrade Wes Howard Memorial Sports Park by adding a neighborhood park with a playground, a half-size basketball court, picnic tables, and a walking path, along with a pickleball facility, three sand volleyball courts and three youth baseball fields with batting cages. Some work has begun and more construction will start this fall — the full project, including a Vietnam War Memorial honoring veterans, is expected to finish next year. KOBI-TV

- ➤ Southern Oregon Goodwill broke ground Tuesday at 4571 Biddle Road in Central Point on an expanded facility that will replace its old store and open in summer, 2026. The center will offer job search help and an eight-week paid internship program (marking its 25th year in Central Point) while adding five to six new jobs. KOBI-TV

- ➤ Authorities reported limited details for the officer-involved shooting at Hawthorne Park on Friday at 8:00 a.m.—the adult male suspect was shot, arrested, and remains hospitalized as the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office takes over the investigation. KOBI-TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters battled 72 wildfires caused by lightning Tuesday across Jackson and Josephine counties, with crews reporting progress on major blazes — including evacuation notices near Heppsie Mountain and Poole Hill. The ODF Incident Management Team 3 will mobilize Wednesday morning to support local crews — boosting capacity as fire conditions remain severe. MedfordAlert
- ➤ The Oregon State Fire Marshal sent two firefighting teams from Benton+Lane counties to the Rogue Valley after wildfires increased Tuesday, as local crews worked to keep the fires small. - ➤ Rogue Community Health in Rogue Valley announced that CEO William North will retire later this year—Calisa Warnke, the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer since 2018 who added seven new clinical sites and doubled the workforce, will replace him. Warnke will take over on September 1 and will focus on expanding care for vulnerable people in Medford and other nearby communities—she aims to deepen access and community impact. KOBI-TV
