- ➤ Brian Woodring, the former owner of an adult foster home for the developmentally disabled, pleaded guilty to multiple felony charges for neglect and theft involving Medicaid recipients — a decision announced by Attorney General Dan Rayfield. Rogue River Press
- ➤ A Jackson County Grand Jury ruled that Medford Police Officer David Leal was justified when he fired three rounds at Salvador Sanchez at 8 a.m. on July 4 at Hawthorne Park after Sanchez advanced with a large knife — the grand jury indicted Sanchez on multiple felony charges. MedfordAlert

- ➤ Crater Lake National Park named Alexis Freddy its interim superintendent as the National Park Service begins the search for a permanent replacement. Freddy, formerly superintendent at San Juan Island National Historical Park, takes on the role amid staffing shortages and rising visitor numbers — her appointment is set to stabilize park operations. - ➤ OR 238 west of Medford remains closed because of extreme storm damage and will stay closed until Sunday. Drivers should follow detour signs & use alternate routes while crews work on repairs. KDRV

- ➤ A new multi-family housing project is proposed for Medford Heights with three four-story buildings that together will add 8,532 square feet of market-rate living space at 130 Florence Avenue in a zone permitting up to 30 dwelling units per acre. The project is in early review with a pre-application conference scheduled for July 23 to set conditions for a formal application — the development is designed to match the scale and density of the surrounding area.
