ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A home near Highway 99 in Phoenix suffered extensive exterior damage from a structure fire at around 10:15 p.m. (Sunday) when Jackson County Fire District 5, Medford and Ashland Fire and Rescue evacuated residents, and a company boarded up the building (declared hazardous) as investigators look into the cause. - ➤ A hiker named Yu Xia, 26 from Delaware, was rescued from Crater Lake’s waterline on Sunday morning after hikers heard his calls for help late Saturday night and search crews found him (near Discovery Point) and checked him by medics, though he refused further transport due to a broken leg. KDRV

- ➤ Pacific Retirement Services announced Dennis Gradillas as its new CEO, and he will officially take over the role the first week of August — he brings over 30 years of experience in senior living and hospitality from his previous work at HumanGood. KOBI-TV

- ➤ Visitors from across Oregon and beyond enjoyed the annual Southern Oregon Lavender Festival this weekend along the scenic Lavender Trail. Dos Mariposas Vineyards — one of eight participating farms — welcomed guests in Medford with blooming fields and local products. KOBI-TV

- ➤ State Senator Jeff Golden held a town hall meeting at the Ashland Library over the weekend and explained the special session outcomes, addressing local queries on wildfire preparedness, Medicaid changes and beaver trapping — he noted that a comprehensive transportation package did not gain full support and said a special session on it is under discussion. - ➤ Today, the Oregon Department of Forestry explains common fire terms to help people understand fire season work.
