  • Pollinator Project Rogue Valley will host Moth Night this Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Willow-Witt Ranch (658 Shale City Road in Ashland) where families will observe moths, watch a movie, enjoy crafting, and have overnight camping with donations suggested at $20.  KOBI-TV
  • Tuesday morning, the Salvation Army broke ground on new studios at Hope House—a drug and alcohol-free transitional living center—adding seven furnished apartments for individuals, couples, and families. The expansion received government funding and over a million dollars in donations from local groups to help residents move toward independence.  KOBI-TV

  • Avelo Airlines will end West Coast operations from Rogue Valley International—Medford Airport by December 2 as the carrier shifts its focus to East Coast hubs; it will phase out its service by mid-August and notify affected passengers of rebooking or refund options. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Highway 238 reopened yesterday after crews and Pacific Power repaired storm damage that closed the road between Medford and Jacksonville last week — officials advise drivers to remain cautious of lingering debris.  KOBI-TV
  • Diamond Lake Resort is warning that upcoming layoffs at the end of July will reduce ODOT maintenance crews, potentially leaving High Cascade communities and local businesses without essential road maintenance—resort officials worry that unplowed roads could limit safe access for visitors.   • The City of Medford has unveiled an early-stage concept called Creekside Quarter designed to revitalize downtown with a mix of hotels, residences, retail offices, a conference center and a multi-use outdoor stadium that may host professional baseball by the Eugene Emeralds — the plan also includes restoring Bear Creek and nearby public parks. City leaders have not secured funding and will review public-private partnership options while seeking community input as the project develops.  MedfordAlert
  • Oregon will require permits for more vessels starting next year after Governor Tina Kotek signed House Bill 2982 this June—new rules now include rafts, paddle boards, and kayaks while raising fees by $3 per year. Permits for non-motorized boats will cost $20 for one year and $35 for two years, and failing to get a permit may result in a $115 fine.  KOBI-TV

  • Japanese athletes are scheduled to arrive Sunday at Ashland High School where community members will welcome them and introduce them to their host families—local events in the Rogue Valley will give them a chance to explore the region. Local athletes from Ashland and Phoenix High Schools will team up to form the South Valley Wolf Pack—preparing for the Pacific Rim Bowl game on July 25 at 7 p.m.  KOBI-TV
