ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Task Force 52 left early Saturday to help fight the Flat Fire that burned over 9,000 acres near Lake Billy Chinook—firefighters from Medford, Grants Pass, and other local agencies provided point protection for homes and vital infrastructure as state officials expanded the wildfire response. More teams are set to join over the weekend as crews battle heavy smoke and challenging weather conditions.  MedfordAlert

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oregon lawmakers will meet in Salem on August 29 to discuss Gov. Tina Kotek's plan to prevent nearly 500 layoffs at ODOT. If no agreement is reached, layoffs will begin mid-September and 12 maintenance facilities will close while a public hearing is set for August 25 at 3 p.m.  KOBI-TV
