- ➤ Smoke from the Flat Fire is spreading into Rogue Valley and causing unhealthy air quality in Medford, Central Point, and Rogue River—residents are urged to stay indoors and use air purifiers. The fire started on August 21 near Sisters, burned nearly 22,000 acres, destroyed four homes along with six structures, and forced almost 4,000 homes to evacuate as containment remains low. - ➤ Medford Police remind drivers to exercise caution in school zones as schools restart this week. Signs posted for 20 mph limits are enforced from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.—drivers must stop for school buses with flashing red lights and extended stop signs. KOBI-TV
- ➤ The Medford Water Commission issued stage 5 emergency water restrictions for Medford, Central Point, Eagle Point, Jacksonville, Phoenix, Talent, and Ashland this morning after an electrical failure stopped the pumps at the Robert A Duff Water Treatment Plant that treats water from the Rogue River. Repairs are ongoing and officials expect the pumps may resume operation today while residents are asked to limit outdoor water use until Wednesday at noon. KOBI-TV
