CCSW, a nonprofit in Glendale, is serving homemade meals to firefighters battling the Kelsey Peak Fire as local volunteers and agencies support efforts — including a $3,000 donation from All Care.

Ray Rosa leads Operation Rambo—a nonprofit that supports veterans with service dogs—and continues the legacy of Rambo, who trained 47 service dogs during his life.

Zander, a 5-year-old German Shepherd mix, is this week’s Dog-of-the-Week available for adoption at Jackson County Animal Services — his adoption fees are waived after more than 75 days in the shelter and he is known for his gentle nature and basic commands.

The shelter says he does best as the only pet in a home and enjoys daily walks, yard play, and outings, making him a loving companion for his new family.

Construction began this week on downtown Medford's first new hotel in 60 years at the corner of Fourth and Bartlett streets next to Pear Blossom Park—crews are getting underground electrical and plumbing systems ready, roads on 3rd Street and Apple Street are closed for detours, and the 134-room Element by Westin hotel will open spring or summer.

A once-empty lot on Barnett Road is being redeveloped into a four-story WoodSpring Suites extended-stay hotel as crews finish electrical and HVAC work for its fall opening across from Fred Meyer—part of Medford’s south side revitalization.

Vacant spaces at the property may soon host a coffee shop or restaurant if plans are finalized.
