COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Medford Airport welcomed Honor Flight Oregon veterans after they returned from a Washington, D.C. trip visiting war memorials—community members surprised them with flowers, certificates and a photo book—while Honor Flight Oregon president Pete Pringle said the trip was life-changing for Vietnam veterans.  KDRV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Crater High School band in Central Point is planning to beat last year's 14425 pound donation total from their Goodwill fundraiser to cover travel costs, instruments and uniforms. The booster club hosts the fundraiser monthly, raising about 1000 dollars each month — band mom Angela Mireles and band director Travis Mills say the funds are vital for the growing program.  KDRV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Medford Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department received a $780,593 state grant to renovate Jackson Park in west Medford. The project will replace the old aquatic center with a new splash pad and upgrade the pool building, restrooms, and picnic areas, with work set to finish by summer 2027.  MedfordAlert
  • On Sept. 17, the Medford City Council approved $615,563 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds for eight local organizations to fund transitional housing renovations, park upgrades — and services for low- and moderate-income residents.
