- ➤ FEMA is proposing new flood insurance rules for Oregon communities that shift focus from insuring homes to protecting floodplain habitats for fish — the changes could raise construction costs and require local ordinance updates. Public feedback will be accepted ahead of a Zoom meeting on September 30. KDRV
- ➤ Medford Parks and Recreation received more than $780,000 from the state to fund a renovation at Jackson Park that will add a new splash pad on the site of the former aquatic center. The project will also upgrade the pool building and restrooms for better accessibility — construction is expected to finish by summer of 2027. KOBI-TV
- ➤ New laws will take effect 90 days after the session ends — expanding affordable housing access and protecting consumer privacy in Oregon. State leaders said the bills include training for building inspectors, tax breaks for affordable projects and new rules to guard personal data and limit youth-targeted ads — showing a firm commitment to consumer protection.
