  • Max’s Mission is hosting its 9th annual Overdose Awareness Day on September 27 at Hawthorne Park in Medford—offering free Naloxone kits, educational sessions, community booths, and a quiet area to remember loved ones affected by opioid overdoses.  KOBI-TV
  • FedEx driver Chris Matthews was honored with a Lifesaving Award by the Jackson County Board of Commissioners after he rescued a three-year-old girl from a brutal dog attack near Jacksonville—he acted quickly on Dec. 6 to save her.  MedfordAlert

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Medford Food Co-op announced plans to relocate to a new South Medford site that will more than double its current space — however, closing is now delayed until December due to unforeseen construction setbacks. The expanded store will improve accessibility and help the Co-op better serve local residents.  KOBI-TV
  • Starbucks will permanently close 13 stores in Oregon as part of a national restructuring plan—two Medford locations at 2372 W. Main St. and 1730 Delta Waters Rd. will shut in the coming months. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Medford School District announced it hired Kevin Plaisance as the new Director of Security and Emergency Management after Ron Havniear resigned after 11 years—Plaisance brings experience from the FBI, Marine Corps, and Air Force and will work to improve student and staff safety across the district.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Medford City Counselor Nick Card supports the Creekside Quarter redevelopment project downtown—he said it will begin with a new conference and event center funded by Measure 15-238, and residents will vote on it this November.  KOBI-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Mount A Line trail in the Ashland Watershed is officially open today and features a one-mile jump line with 50 jumps and a separate bypass for adaptive riders—built with community donations, business sponsorships, and an Oregon State Parks grant. Riders from as far as Bellingham have visited, and the Rogue Valley Mountain Bike Association will open its Dollar Mountain trail system on November 1.  KOBI-TV
