COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Volunteer Brian Mullen from Medford flew to Alaska on Friday after a deadly storm to help set up shelters, arrange supplies, and provide emotional support to victims. He has been with the Red Cross for one year and has been deployed five times — he will assist victims for three weeks.  KOBI-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Downtown Medford is hosting Forks & Friends: Downtown Medford Restaurant Week today through October 23 — 40 restaurants offer harvest specials, curated wine pairings, and local farm ingredients to support small businesses. The event kicks off with Third Friday when galleries and shops extend their hours and ends at the Hawthorne Park Farmers Market.  KOBI-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eagle Point School District 9 is introducing Ninja Parenting—an initiative to help parents manage challenges with technology and social media as they raise children; parents have reported positive changes and the district may extend the program into spring while offering spots to non-district families if space allows.  KDRV

  • The Rogue River Jr. Sr. High volleyball team will finish its season this week with three final matches—its first season rebuilding under coach Joe Kolkow as the team hopes his experience will help them win games.  Rogue River Press
