COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Southern Oregon car enthusiasts from the Rogue Valley Corvettes gathered Monday at Twin Creeks Park in Central Point to donate a $1,550 check and more than 20 coats for the Coats for Kids Campaign 2025—challenging other local car clubs to match their contribution. The group also displayed several Corvette models ranging from 1993 to 2021 during the event.  KDRV
  • On the weekend, the first annual Fall Fest took place at Rogue X, hosted by Gather Production Company (with over 70 local vendors, a pumpkin carving contest, and food trucks serving families and young entrepreneurs). The organizers plan to host two more festivals this winter.  KOBI-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jackson County Library Foundation launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in January 2023 to provide free books to kids under five—2,000 children have graduated and 4,600 remain enrolled, with a goal of reaching 7,500. Local volunteers and donors helped start the program during the pandemic and now help fund it at about $31 per child a year.  KOBI-TV
  • At McLoughlin Middle School, the SMILE Club led by Ms. Loni Strong makes science fun with hands-on projects. After a summer contest earned students a trip to NASA's Kennedy Space Center, kids like Izzy Real feel inspired to think about future science careers—helping them explore what the world of science offers.  KDRV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Oregon fire season is officially over – however, residents must still get permits from local fire agencies before burning yard debris or slash, as rules remain based on weather and air quality conditions. The restrictions aim to prevent accidental fires during fall and winter.  KOBI-TV
