- ➤ La Fuente Market opened on October 31st in Phoenix at 127 N. Phoenix Road and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It sells locally sourced meats, produce, soaps and lotions along with food from its kitchen and drinks from its tap room—owner Krista Vegtre, a former pig farmer from Ashland, said she will expand the selection based on community suggestions. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A new documentary called Mt. Ashland: More Than a Mountain will premiere Friday and Saturday at the Ashland Armory from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and will offer live music, games, food, and free beer and wine tastings — filmmaker Tabitha Wheeler said the film shows how the local snowsports team works as one. - ➤ Local students at Kids Unlimited Academy wrote nearly 150 birthday cards for WW2 veteran Drew (Preacher) Smith, who turned 100 this week, while learning about his role in the Battle of the Bulge ahead of Veteran’s Day next week. Teacher Julie Brunson said the drive helped students make personal connections to history and their family stories. KOBI-TV
