The Medford School Board updated its search for a new superintendent on Thursday during a regular meeting and is working with consultant McPherson & Jacobson LLC to screen applicants.

Applications close January 6 and the board expects public Q&A with finalists before a superintendent begins on July 1.

Leaders and NBC5 met with Senator Ron Wyden on Wednesday morning in Medford to discuss mental health services under the Tomorrow Needs You initiative; Wyden said he will support future legislation for opioid treatment, telemedicine, and school-based behavioral health amid Medicaid cuts that have slowed progress.

The Rogue River Chieftains boys’ basketball team has announced its lineup — including Keoni Cwiklinski, Will Wardle, Mason Ayer, and Easton Brown — as they prepare for upcoming games at the local school.

A local school update shows younger wrestlers leading the team (Joey Land, Nolan Buchanan, Tavis Dalton, Zack Anderson, Cole Young, and Gianni Gervasi) while manager Wilhelm Arnett oversees teammates including Rylan Campbell and others.

The team is set to compete in upcoming matches.
