COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A heat lamp ignited a dog house on Hartsfield Lane in Merlin on Wednesday, and a family goat lost its home. The family, their dog, and the goat escaped injury and contained the fire until firefighters arrived (4:26 a.m.) while Rural Metro Fire advises proper heat lamp use.  KDRV
  • Medford families can join three local Easter egg hunts today including the Lozier Lane Community event at Lozier Lane Baptist Church (794 Lozier Lane) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., North Medford High School from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. and The Village at Medford Center from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.  KDRV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Children's Museum of Southern Oregon will launch its 2026 Summer Clubs from June 16 through Aug. 12 for children ages 5–12. Parents may register for flexible one-day or multi-week sessions at the Pavilion plus creative, STEAM-based programs at The Annex.  KDRV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lydia Doleman of Earth Dragon Natural Building will speak about climate-friendly construction using natural materials on April 28 at 6:00 p.m. at the Medford Public Library; the free talk will show how sustainable methods can lower building costs and reduce carbon emissions.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • With fire season approaching, the Jacksonville Fire Department is deploying a mechanical masticator today to clear brush and small trees in Jacksonville (a key fire prevention step) to create defensible space.  KDRV
